Guardian combines precision tape application, high-performance tape, real-time seal monitoring, and ongoing technical service into one managed case-sealing program — built to seal cases more securely while cutting material use, downtime, rework, and damage.
It may seem tempting to take taping and case sealing for granted. But tape that breaks, seals inconsistently, or closes the case poorly drives rework, material waste, line stoppages, and damaged product.
Guardian is a data-driven case-sealing program: it applies the right amount of high-performance tape for your specific application, then measures the result.
We partnered with ShurTape to build a case-sealing program that performs better while using less material. The PrimeLoc™ tape head applies tape with multiple flexible wipe-down points for full utilization of the tape’s adhesive and a tamper-evident seal carton after carton. Folded Edge® Technology folds both tape edges along the length of the carton, strengthening the seal and letting the carton be opened without a knife. PrimeAlert™ monitors every seal in real time, and we back the program with technical service and preventive maintenance to maintain the performance of the tape heads for the long term.
Extended producer responsibility (EPR) laws for packaging are being implemented across the United States, with costs increasingly tied to material volume and recyclability. Guardian reduces the tape you use and helps you right-size it, and we provide expert guidance on selecting the right tape for your application.
Options include Flatback Kraft Paper Tape, made with fiber from responsibly managed forests and WMU-certified as recyclable with corrugated boxes; 90% PCR rPET Tape, made from post-consumer recycled PET sourced from bottles, with abrasion and tear resistance that enables a thinner construction without sacrificing adhesion; and Hot-Melt BOPP Tape, engineered with high tensile strength to help prevent breaks.

The Guardian Taping System is a managed case-sealing program that lowers total cost by reducing unnecessary tape use, downtime, product damage, and manual rework. Where most applicators use only two rollers, the PrimeLoc™ tape head uses multiple flexible wipe-down points, increasing wipe-down force by more than 75% over competitive tape applicators. It also right-sizes each tab and cuts the tape with a small, angled blade, which helps prevent overlong tabs, wrinkled tape, rework, and line stoppages. More wipe-down force results in deeper utilization of the tape’s adhesive into the corrugate’s fibers, increasing product protection and creating a tamper-evident seal carton after carton. Underfilled Assist (UA) uses a pneumatic cylinder to adjust the downward force applied to each carton, easing pressure on lightweight boxes while maintaining the wipe-down contact needed for full tape adhesion — secure seals without line jams, crushed cartons, or reduced line speed. Applied consistently at scale, a right-sized amount of high-performance tape produces 10–20% less tape used, stronger seals, and less material sent to waste. |

The Guardian Taping System’s Folded Edge® Technology folds both edges of the packaging tape inward, 1 mm to 3 mm, as it’s applied — forming a double-thickness band that runs the full length of the seal. REINFORCED STRENGTHFolded Edge® Technology strengthens the tape’s edge, so the seal requires 25% more force to break. That added strength adds reliability in automated packaging systems, reduces the risk of the tape being nicked and broken on edges, and helps keep carton contents secure from damage. READY TO OPEN SEALSThe technology also creates a secure, easy-to-open carton seal that doesn’t require a knife or other sharp instrument to open, improving ergonomics and operator safety. Essentially, it creates a dry edge that allows the tape to be grasped and removed by hand, reducing the risk of product damage and worker injury attributed to knife cuts. |
