When Ilmor approached us with their need for packaging their new electric outboard motor, the ION, we saw that our shared dedication to reducing environmental impact and enhancing customer experience would make this project a great match for our two companies.
Partnership Rooted in Sustainability
The collaboration between Atlantic Packaging and Ilmor was driven by a common goal to develop a packaging solution that would not only protect the product during transit but would also align with our companies’ sustainability objectives. Ilmor’s commitment to sustainability resonated with our own goals to reduce plastic pollution and create environmentally friendly packaging solutions. Together, we set out to design a packaging solution that would be fully curbside recyclable, ensuring that the Ion’s packaging would have minimal impact on the planet while performing the important job of protecting the valuable motor.
Designing for Protection and Presentation
One of the main challenges we faced was developing a packaging solution that would safeguard the ION during shipping while also providing an exceptional unboxing experience for customers. Our in-house corrugated designers and engineers at the Packaging Solution Center in Charlotte played a crucial role in addressing this challenge. We worked together to prototype, test, and refine the packaging design, ensuring that it met Ilmor’s stringent requirements for protection and presentation.
The result is a beautifully designed package that is both functional and visually appealing. The stark black print and vibrant design elements create a sense of excitement when customers open the box. The packaging not only protects the Ion but also enhances the overall customer experience, making the unboxing process a memorable moment.
